The Poet - A Poem

Pen, pencil, chalk, knife

It doesn't matter to the poet.

Anything to wrap his fingers around

It doesn't matter to the poet.

Something worn, something used,

Some old song, somewhat abused,

It doesn't matter to the poet

He'll use it.

Wandering in the day, as he does everyday

No work, no money, no honey

Appreciating trees and fleas

And a cold winter's breeze -

That's what his poems are made of.

But it doesn't matter to… Continue

Whales, ships and surprise harpoons.

Just renewed an old acquaintenceship with Chris Pash (Author of The Last Whale) through Plaxo. I wrote him this:

"Nice to connect to you here, Chris.

Took some great photos of old whaling stuff at the Fremantle Maritime Museum on the weekend. A young boy there thought that "whale pellets" were whale food. Boneyard

Dressed in suits of twilight

Crying in dresses of satin

Spades in hand

Springtime in the boneyard

Cathedrals of wood

Stand weeping

As the birds watch

Fragile on the branches

Low mounds of stone

Bearing silent messages

They are unable to hear

Any mourners dull groans

The birds are singing

Amongst the bees in the boneyard

The soft winds of spring

Breathe life

Back into the boneyard… Continue

Poetry by Colin Hope and Christian Coulter

While Dad and I were doing some more work, organizing the HO and deciding what needed to be thrown away; could be given away and what to keep, I found Colin's book of Poetry. He gave it to Robbie and me as a Christmas Present in 1993; some of the poems are written by him, his friend Christian Coulter or in conjunction with one another.

Their book of poems is called "Observations on Chaos Theory" (Copyright) 1993.…
