Yes, I am lucky!

I have a heart, a mind, a soul, a body

and all that any human being may wish to have...

Have been exploring this wonderful world of ours

since I was born

and am still so terribly curious about it...

Every day I find some reason to be

happy, or sad, or angry, or ...furious... or ecstatically joyous...

there are reason for laughter,

there are reasons for smiles,

there are reasons for tears,

there… Continue

~ Ligio ~ ~Elena~ ~Cervia~

Elena & Sirkka-Liisa

Some time ago, I was walking in Cervia, in the early morning air, the town still silent and sleepy, the sun golden on the calm Adriatic, smiling on the seagulls and the yachts at berth in the canal and the marina.

Moving away from the golden light I went down the poplar-lined avenues, the closed eyes of the villas oblivious of the few passers-by. Wanting very much to find a cafe without a… Continue

This is one fo my favorites, Hyde Park (Perth)

Sun spears on dappled water

The air caressed by fowl's wings

A reeking of mud and sorrow

As the ducks feast.

Long lime avenues

Tunnels of cool

Willows laughing, how could they weep?

Why should they weep?

As turtles probe the mud

A child screams

Ducklings cry with hunger

Birds bloated on bread

So monotonously fed

Dogs on the prowl

Creating a stir

Of whistling wings

Mr. Plod

Too lazy to… Continue

The Poet - A Poem

Pen, pencil, chalk, knife

It doesn't matter to the poet.

Anything to wrap his fingers around

It doesn't matter to the poet.

Something worn, something used,

Some old song, somewhat abused,

It doesn't matter to the poet

He'll use it.

Wandering in the day, as he does everyday

No work, no money, no honey

Appreciating trees and fleas

And a cold winter's breeze -

That's what his poems are made of.

But it doesn't matter to… Continue

Whales, ships and surprise harpoons.

Just renewed an old acquaintenceship with Chris Pash (Author of The Last Whale) through Plaxo. I wrote him this:

"Nice to connect to you here, Chris.

Took some great photos of old whaling stuff at the Fremantle Maritime Museum on the weekend. A young boy there thought that "whale pellets" were whale food. I gently explained what they were, used to be used for and why we don't have them anymore. His parents were happy, too. There is still a lot of education…

Expose Yourself To Art

One of the most famous picture posters in the world is called "Expose Yourself To Art".

Lots of my Twitter friends were looking at the video about Vincent Van Gogh and listening to Don McLean's beautiful song after I sent it to them. One of them was @omaniblog.

Paul O'Mahony commented that he showed it to his (very) young daughter, Grace, who loved the music and the paintings.

I was tempted to respond that it is never "too early to expose children to art", but…

Google and Hungry Beast (ABC March 3rd, 2010)

Did you see "Hungry Beast" on the ABC last night. They created a fantstic visage / montage of all of Google's services that ended up looking like Darth Vader. Google's slogan: "Do No Evil" It was a very scary outcome.

Boneyard

Dressed in suits of twilight

Crying in dresses of satin

Spades in hand

Springtime in the boneyard

Cathedrals of wood

Stand weeping

As the birds watch

Fragile on the branches

Low mounds of stone

Bearing silent messages

They are unable to hear

Any mourners dull groans

The birds are singing

Amongst the bees in the boneyard

The soft winds of spring

Breathe life

Back into the boneyard… Continue

Poetry by Colin Hope and Christian Coulter

While Dad and I were doing some more work, organizing the HO and deciding what needed to be thrown away; could be given away and what to keep, I found Colin's book of Poetry. He gave it to Robbie and me as a Christmas Present in 1993; some of the poems are written by him, his friend Christian Coulter or in conjunction with one another.

Their book of poems is called "Observations on Chaos Theory" (Copyright) 1993.…
